We are privileged to be able to present on Countering Cultural Destruction a poem recently written by Richard Weigand, entitled “What is Love.” In it Richard shares his perceptions and insights on a most elusive yet desired subject–Love. We hope you enjoy it!

Love begins in the quietest way,
In a smile, in a word, in the warmth of the day.
At first, it’s just liking, a feeling so new,
A spark of connection between me and you.
But as we walk further, something unfolds,
We find little agreements, and comfort takes hold.
In shared conversations, in laughter and care,
We see the beginnings of something rare.
And then, with surprise, we discover at last,
That the path we are on leads down the same pass.
Our purposes meet, our directions align,
We’re heading together, through space and through time.
What started with liking has grown into more,
With each step we take toward a future we explore.
In goals that we cherish, in dreams that we chase,
We walk side by side, at a steady pace.
Love isn’t sudden, nor simply a fire,
It’s found in this journey, in shared desire.
Our paths are united, our visions entwined,
A common direction that strengthens the bind.
And so, as we travel through life’s open door,
We discover that love is built on much more.
It’s finding a purpose, a shared way ahead,
A journey together, where our hearts are led.
Through each step, we grow closer, with joy and with grace,
As we follow this road, in life’s vast embrace.
For love is the path, the journey we’ve begun,
A future together, two souls as one.
